Meet With a Lender
The first step is to talk to your mortgage lender to get pre-approved. Your lender will ask you to prepare some documents and fill out an application. If you qualify, the lender will provide you with a pre-approval letter. This letter verifies that you're able to afford a home. It shows your buyer's agent, the listing agent, and most importantly, the seller, that you are a serious buyer. Without a pre-approval letter, you will not be able to make an offer on a home. It is recommended to get pre-approved before looking at homes.
